I hope everyone is having a great summer! I have had a blast so far with my family. We have had a lot of fun and great family time. I am back at school for the most part (probably just M, T, W this week and next).
I just wanted to share some mid-summer news with everyone!

Mrs. Rikki Wise was hired as the new Reading Coach @ Elkmont Elementary. We will miss Rikki and want to wish her the best of luck! Good luck Mrs. Rikki!
Good luck Mary Beth!
As most of you already know Mrs. Mary Beth Whiteside will be moving to Texas very soon. Her last day will be July 19th. We will miss Mary Beth and her family! Good luck Mary Beth!
Schedule differences
Now that we have 2 gyms we are able to split our PE schedules and really utilize our new facilities. The biggest change will be in K & 1. Coach Mitchell is PE teacher for CPS and will be in the Old Gym each day. She will teach K and 1 classes and Coach Davis & Blakely will teach 2-5 together in the new gym. We will share the playground and athletic fields.
K and 1 will go to PE in groups of 2 classes and 2nd grade will go in groups of 3 classes.
I am still working on the schedule now.
New staff
Mrs. Elana Brister is our new Music Teacher. Mrs. Brister is a graduate of The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). Mrs. Brister comes to us from Huntsville City Schools where she was the Band Director and Music Teacher @ Huntsville Middle, Jones Valley and Blossomwood Schools. Mrs. Brister is married with 3 kids - 4th grade, Kindergarten and 3 years old. They attend school in the Madison City School district.
Mrs. Virginia Oakes is our new 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Oaks is a graduate of Auburn University. Mrs. Oakes also comes to us from Huntsville City Schools. Mrs. Oakes taught @ Williams Elementary last year and in Jasper the year before. Mrs. Oakes is married.
K-Kamp
K-Kamp starts on July 17th! We have almost 160 K students right now and I am sure it will be around 180 by the time school starts.
K-Kamp will be July 17, 18 and 19th from 9:00 to 11:00 each day.
